Sigam is the Italian leader in the production of exhaust systems for the automotive world and a European reference point for those who want to replace exhausts, DPF or assembly parts for any type of vehicle.
Intervening on the exhaust system today means preserving an entire complex system such as that of the contemporary car, in which each part is interconnected with the others.
It is for this reason that Sigam is maniacally involved in the production of every part of the exhaust system:
- Catalytic converter
The exhaust system is one of the neuralgic parts of any modern vehicle because it is dedicated to vital functions of the car like the muffling of engines, the reduction of pollutants, the optimisation of engine efficiency.
Sigam’s experience in the manufacture of exhaust systems – mufflers, catalytic converters and DPF – is an international reference point for those who need to replace the exhaust of their vehicle. Today Sigam offers the automotive spare parts sector a very wide range of mufflers for cars and commercial vehicles.
All based on the quality of the product and the high level of service associated with it.
Catalytic converters & SCR
The catalytic converter is a fundamental anti-pollution device. It is one of the most important components in the exhaust system because it does a constant job of reducing emissions and it is useful for the correct functioning of the other components.
This device contains a core coated with metals, which converts toxic gases from combustion, hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO), transforming them, through chemical reactions, into substances harmless to the atmosphere, and specifically into steam (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen (N2).
As of 2014, new-generation vehicles have adopted the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. It is the most advanced emission control system available today and its adoption is essential to achieve the emission targets required by the EURO 6 legislation.
SCR treats and reduces NOx in the exhaust gas by converting it into nitrogen (N), water vapour (H20) and small amounts of CO2, using urea compounds (AdBlue – an aqueous urea solution consisting of 32, 5% pure urea and 67.5% demineralised water).
Our wide range of catalytic converters and SCRs, all homologated, cover most of the European and Asian circulating fleet and have been developed taking into account the specifications of each brand and car model. Environmental performance is identical to OEM / OES products and is among the highest in the independent aftermarket, ensuring compliance with all applicable legal requirements.
The diesel particulate filter is an anti-pollution device that retains solid particles created by incomplete combustion in engines. These particles, also called nanoparticles, are extremely harmful to humans and the environment.
Initially, particulate filters were designed exclusively for diesel vehicles.
However, with the increasing need to reduce pollutant gas emissions, it is now possible to find particulate filters in petrol (GPF) vehicles as well.
Our range of particulate filters is fully homologated and each product is developed taking into account the specifications of each make and model of car. SIGAM’s particulate filters made of silicon carbide (SiC) or cordierite, guarantee an environmental and functional performance
Our assembly parts are important elements that ensure the correct assembly and endurance of the various components of the exhaust system. At SIGAM we have a wide range of accessories that cover all the needs for proper and correct installation of the exhaust system.
The concept of quality is the reference point for every person working at Sigam.
Technical tests such as conditioning, ageing and phonometric tests allow Sigam products to be approved in compliance with the most recent European 96/20/EC regulations.
