Catalytic converters & SCR

The catalytic converter is a fundamental anti-pollution device. It is one of the most important components in the exhaust system because it does a constant job of reducing emissions and it is useful for the correct functioning of the other components.

This device contains a core coated with metals, which converts toxic gases from combustion, hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO), transforming them, through chemical reactions, into substances harmless to the atmosphere, and specifically into steam (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen (N2).

As of 2014, new-generation vehicles have adopted the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. It is the most advanced emission control system available today and its adoption is essential to achieve the emission targets required by the EURO 6 legislation.

SCR treats and reduces NOx in the exhaust gas by converting it into nitrogen (N), water vapour (H20) and small amounts of CO2, using urea compounds (AdBlue – an aqueous urea solution consisting of 32, 5% pure urea and 67.5% demineralised water).

Our wide range of catalytic converters and SCRs, all homologated, cover most of the European and Asian circulating fleet and have been developed taking into account the specifications of each brand and car model. Environmental performance is identical to OEM / OES products and is among the highest in the independent aftermarket, ensuring compliance with all applicable legal requirements.

DPF

The diesel particulate filter is an anti-pollution device that retains solid particles created by incomplete combustion in engines. These particles, also called nanoparticles, are extremely harmful to humans and the environment.

Initially, particulate filters were designed exclusively for diesel vehicles.

However, with the increasing need to reduce pollutant gas emissions, it is now possible to find particulate filters in petrol (GPF) vehicles as well.

Our range of particulate filters is fully homologated and each product is developed taking into account the specifications of each make and model of car. SIGAM’s particulate filters made of silicon carbide (SiC) or cordierite, guarantee an environmental and functional performance
